Moyle Consulting Limited is taking a transformational step forward, and has agreed to become part of Strategic Pay, New Zealand’s largest full-service remuneration consultancy.

More directors got a pay rise in 2011, the latest Moyle Remuneration Consulting Survey shows, but the increases remain below levels typically seen between 2004 and 2009.

Private business owners looking to sell their enterprises now prefer a gradual sell down to an outright sale but most lack a formal succession plan to achieve it, according to a survey by Deloitte and Moyle Consulting. One key element of preparing a business for an ownership transition is having a remuneration policy in place, clearly outlining remuneration, incentive schemes, performance pay and shareholder options, as this can increase buyer options during any sale.

Chief executive pay rose a modest 1.5% in 2010, less than the 3% rise in general salaries, according to new data from Moyle Remuneration Consulting.

CEO pay flat-lined in 2009, according to the latest Moyle Consulting Chief Executive Survey. Slamming a five-year trend for increases of around 5%, the median increase in 2009 was 0%, meaning more than half of the survey respondents had no increase in their base salaries. 

A small number of companies have had a big impact on director pay levels over the past year. The latest survey of Director Remuneration by Moyle Consulting Ltd shows that 80% of organisations made no change to fee levels. But 20% made significant increases.

The latest figures from the Employers and Manufacturers Association shows a lot of people have been prepared to take one for the team this year, recognising that now is not a good time to ask for a pay rise.
